Our Trip to Fish Creek Nature Park

Last week, our Kindergarten had a very exciting day of exploration at the Fish Creek Nature Park.

Students explore the small pieces of wood that have been chipped from the tree by the Pleated woodpecker.

In the middle of the forest, we found an
old dead tree.  The Carpenter ants like
to eat the wood of diseased or dead
trees. This dead tree is visited by 3 different species of wood peckers who peck large holes
as they eat the ants.

Students were able to
find some very large, black
carpenter ants that were found
at the bottom of a large tree.

Hamna is investigating the
insects through her magnifying
container.

At the edge of the Park, students made it to the bridge
and looked out over the
Fish Creek.

A big thank you to our parent
volunteers: Mrs. Suaad Zafar,
Mrs. Amina Ali & Mrs. Sandra Moravec.
