Mo Willems always creates interesting and comical characters. His illustrations of these characters are simple and expressive. The students have been developing their small motor coordination and drawing skills by using his characters as models for their sketches.

Please enjoy these pieces of work from some students of our kindergarten class.

We have been listening to and retelling various folktales. We recently read, recited the verses and acted out 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'.

All students chanted the verses of the ugly, mean Troll as the 'Biily Goat Gruff' students went 'trip, trapping across the bridge'.

Ask your child to tell you this story.

Vista Heights is an S4 school

    'Stay Smart Stay Safe!'

This afternoon,  we had Constable Dan visit with our Kindergarten students. He talked about his role as a helper in our community and about the all the ways that the Calgary Police assist people.

When young children need help they need to be able to use  'helper words' and seek an 'adult helper'.

In emergency situations (e.g. getting lost, phoning 911) it is important that every child knows his full name and his current address.

Another cold day at Vista Heights!

We have been discussing this cold weather and preparing experiments with containers of water. We have been thinking about .....

What will happen to water when the outside temperature is below zero?
What will happen to ice when the room temperature is above zero?

We have been using our large thermometer to match
colour and general temperatures to weather words
