                 VHS Kindergarten Students Enjoy Interactive
                                 'Rattle & Strum' Concert

What a concert!  The duo of 'Rattle and Strum' kept our students singing with their original, imaginative and 'catchy' songs. They were encouraged to clap to the beat, move creatively or  follow lyrics, ( jump up high, turn around, move your shoulders) from their song Clop Your Hands. As well, everyone had the opportunity to experiment with percussion instruments and practice creating beats that were soft - loud and  slow- fast.

We are currently creating some pieces of student art to show our appreciation to the National Music Center, Corporate Sponsor CIBC and the talented artists.

Swimming
Today we had a great time at the pool. Students enjoyed swimming in small groups at Village Square Leisure Centre. Thank you to all parents who helped their children ensure they had everything they needed. 

Please ensure students have the following for tomorrow: 

-a plastic bag, extra underwear and socks in their bag, a towel. To avoid any delays please  make sure that your child wear their swimming suits under their clothes.

Please ask your child: what was your favourite part of swimming today and why?

* When students return to school they will be supervised while eating their lunch

All CBE students and their families are invited to an evening of fun, entertainment and great hockey at the third-annual CBE night with the Calgary Hitmen. The game is on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Tickets are $11 (plus TicketMaster fees) and $2 of each ticket sold will go to our Fuel for School breakfast program. Tickets make great stocking stuffers, so get them early to get the best seats.

We have been enjoying the African folktale “Abiyoyo” which takes place in a small village. It centers on a boy and his father and their encounters with Abiyoyo, a giant. 

The story is intriguing to children because the giant who terrorizes the village is made to disappear through the efforts of the boy and his father.

Please ask your child to sing the verses from the story.
